A Bronzeville Nutcracker 2010

A Bronzeville Nutcraker is a new twist on a timeless classic. The story chronicles the adventures of young Peggy, a child growing up in Bronzeville Chicago, as she learns to appreciate the importance of family traditions. After Peggy doesn't receive the gift that she wants for Christmas, her grandfather (Paw Paw Johnson) guides her on a journey to magical lands. A journey that will help her to realize that with her imagination the most ordinary gift can turn into the most extraordinary experience. Paw Paw is there to show her if she opens her mind and imagination she can begin to appreciate the simplest things in life. During their journey she meets Cutie Patootie,  Peppermint Patty and the Candy Cane Kids, the Queen of the Nile, All The Kings Men, and  Sassy Swingers Swinging Swing, just to name a few. They also stop by the Bronzeville Blues District also known as the Black Metropolis. With all the surprises and magical experiences Paw Paw Johnson hopes that their journey will help Peggy to see past the gifts and into the true meaning of Christmas. Come join us to learn if Peggy will ever come to realize that the most important part about the Holidays is family and tradition and not the gifts?
